I’m a licensed psychologist in Boulder, Colorado and I work with adults and adolescents, couples and families.
I started in private practice in 1980. In addition, I worked at the University of Colorado, Boulder from 1991 through 2016 doing research on the best ways to treat mood disorders in adults, adolescents, and children. This work has taught me a lot about working with people with depression and bipolar disorder, whether individually or in the context of family therapy. Currently, another big interest of mine is Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples. I was trained in this approach in September, 2010 and have been very happy to see how helpful it can be in facilitating safety, security, and connection in relationships.

Pandemic update for prospective new clients:
Finding a new therapist seems to be more difficult than it used to be, unfortunately. I have been seeing more clients than I can sustainably manage through the pandemic and am making a conscious effort to reduce the number of people that I see in a week. My plan is to wait until Friday each week to make a decision about whether I can take on a new client, and only take on someone new if my numbers the following week allow for enough space to do so.
If you’ve sent me an email inquiring about an appointment, I will respond at the end of the week letting you know if I have any openings the following week. You can let me know at that point if you’ve found someone to work with or if you’d like me to let you know my availability the following week.
